The Ward House
Montague Ward built the house in 1918. A subsequent owner, a boat builder by the name of Shaw, carved many ornate wood moldings for the house, including the front porch. Shaw sold the house to Patrick Hoonan, who occupied the house for 25 years and then his son Robert lived in the house until 1960. A port commissioner by the name of Terrill bought the house from Robert Hoonan and moved an unoccupied office building from the port to the house to fashion the garage. At one time the house was heated by a wood boiler that came from a ship. In 1988, the Pentilla family bought the house and still resides here.
The house faces west and was built before the houses to the west were built, giving the house an unobstructed view when it was built.
